Nuuk is the gateway to West Greenland and Illulissat is the gateway to North Greenland when using Iceland-based flights.

Traveling through the region of West Greenland is accomplished by air or scheduled ship transport. Most visitors use the reliable and convenient flight service of Air Greenland.
Follow these steps:
Starting with your flight plans for 2009
- Nuuk: Flights operate between Iceland (Reykjavík City Airport) and Nuuk four days every week during July and August with round trip travel on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting 21 May 2010 through 14 September 2010. An additional round trip flight is operated on Thursdays: 01 July - 31 August 2010.
- Ilulissat: Flights operate between Iceland (Reykjavík City Airport) and Ilulissat three days every week starting 22 June 2010 and ending 31 August 2010.
- Other destinations: There are regular domestic flights between Nuuk, Kangerlussuaq and Sisimiut throughout the year. On-going flights connect to Illulissat from Kangerlussuaq.
- There are no flights operated in Greenland on Sundays.

About Nuuk
Nuuk is the capital of Greenland with a population of approximately 15,000 people. It is located at the mouth of the Nuuk Fjord and is the oldest city in Greenland having been founded in 1728 by Danish missionary Hans Egede. The leading hotel is town is named after this first European settler.
About Illulissat
Illulissat, site of the famous Disko Bay, affords many opportunities for fascinating tours of the icecap and the world's largest glacier, which produces 20 million tons of ice a day, for sailing and fishing in the fiord and Disko Bay.
